News and Updates

Check here regularily for news and information pertaining to the course. I will try to post all announcements made in class as well.

The Three Questions
You are asked to write down and submit three questions relating to the reading you did in preparation for each class. I recommend that you write the questions down as you read the relevant chapters rather than wait until the end of your reading. These questions are important to your understanding of the subject matter. They can be questions that ask for clarification or expansion but they can also about things that stir your curiousity and get you thinking.

Handouts
Note that all handouts and other information pertaining to a specific class can be found on the relevant webpage for that class.

Homework Assignments

You are required to complete a number of homework and in-class assignments. Late assignments will lose 10% of their value for every day they are late (remember that all assignments are due at the beginning of the class).

In-Class Tests
There will be nine (9) in-class tests and each will be held at the beginning of class and will have questions pertaining to the readings assigned for that class. Each test is worth 2% and the tests are worth 18% as a whole.

WILTs
There will be six (6) WILTs and each WILT is worth 2% and the WILTS are worth 12% as a whole.

Written Assignments
There will be two (2) written assignments which are due according to the Class Schedule and each is worth 8% of your final grade. However, for each written assignment, you are required to give a brief oral presentation to the class informing your classmates of what you learned. This oral presentation is worth an additional 2% for each one. The written assignments and associated oral presentations are worth a total of 20% of your final grade.

FINAL EXAM
The final exam - held during the last class of the semester - is worth a total of 50% of your final grade.

Note that the final is scheduled for 1:00 to 5:00 pm, Friday, February 25. It is important that you make sure you are available at that time!
